Dr. S. R. Lasker Library celebrated International Open Access Week 2026 from 19-25 October under the global theme, “The Cost of Knowledge.”

As part of the week-long observance, the Library highlighted five widely used open access discovery tools: DOAJ, CORE, OpenAlex, PubMed Central, and DOAB. Through online awareness posts, library patrons were encouraged to explore freely accessible scholarly literature, academic books, and research networks.

The celebration emphasized the importance of removing barriers to information access and promoting equitable participation in knowledge creation and sharing. Participants were encouraged to discover at least one open access resource and share it with others, reinforcing the idea that knowledge becomes more valuable when it is openly accessible, discoverable, and reusable.
Since 2016, Dr. S. R. Lasker Library has actively promoted Open Access and inclusive knowledge sharing. Through this year's observance, the Library reaffirmed its commitment to supporting open scholarship and expanding access to knowledge for the East West University community and beyond.
